The
Memorial Day race at Motor Mile Dragway
was a big success with K92's
Monica Brooks taking a ride in Junkyard
Dog Terry Harris' 67 Chevy II and we saw
several new cars in both classes.
James Bishop won his first race after
working his way through a tough field of
competitors. He was loaded for
bear in the finals going against Jon
Rittenhouse in his bad to the bone brand
new 90 Mustang LX hatchback. Jon
beat himself by forgetting to arm the
nitrous in his first ever final. Expect
to see him in plenty more finals with
his new bullet. He posted the fastest
pass of the day of a 5.49 and backed it
up with consistent 5.50 passes and there
is plenty left in it. Fast Eddie
Plybon in his usual fashion nabbed best
reaction time with a .002 light. If
there was points for second best
reaction, he would have got that too
with his .009.
The spectators could barely tell the
difference in the 2 classes with the
True Street cars destroying the 660'
with strong 6 second passes all day.
Young gun D.J. Thompson showed his
stones again taking fastest ET with a
6.36 and
reaction time of .057 then going to the finals. D.J. fell to newcomer Brian Turner in
the finals with the closest pass in King
of the Streets history. Both cars
crossed the stripe with a 6.40.
